Position Title: Account Manager, Department of Defense (DoD) (Active Secret Clearance Required)Location: Washington, DC (TC1002)

Position Overview:

The primary responsibility of the Account Manager is to help the client expand its influence and reputation within the Department of Defense (DoD) by aligning our solutions with current and future DoD needs and implementing strategies to enhance business opportunities. The ideal candidate will have broad experience with the DoD and be capable of effectively communicating the client's value to both new and existing customers. The Account Manager is accountable for the overall success of the account, including client satisfaction, financial performance, and team effectiveness. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

-       Drive revenue growth for the DoD account in alignment with enterprise goals. 

-       Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of DoD business opportunities. 

-       Collaborate with the business development (BD) team on capture and proposal development processes, including proposal reviews, pricing strategies, and resource allocation within the account. 

-       Act as capture manager for selected opportunities and assist in developing white papers, RFI, RFP responses, and other business development or marketing materials. 

-       Research and analyze industry trends and market dynamics to inform the client’s strategy and approach to the DoD account. 

-       Identify and align the client’s solutions with DoD needs to deliver significant value and impact; promote the adoption of innovative delivery solutions. 

-       Establish and nurture primary client relationships, leveraging personal and professional networks with key decision-makers and influencers within the DoD. 

-       Serve as an escalation point for managing client relationships. 

-       Identify, assess, and mitigate risks associated with the account (e.g., personnel, financial, contractual). 

-       Advise on work scope and validate technical approaches. 

-       Engage in marketing and networking efforts to communicate the client’s value proposition and enhance brand visibility. 

-       Develop and mentor staff, fostering a culture of learning and development to drive individual and organizational growth. 

-       Allocate resources for talent development, performance management, succession planning, methodology development, and best practices across delivery, growth, quality, and customer satisfaction. 

-       Contribute to the formulation and execution of the annual strategy and financial plan. 

-       Convey and demonstrate the client's vision, objectives, and expectations. 

-       Achieve annual performance targets (e.g., pipeline, utilization, and revenue). 

 

Qualifications:

-       Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred. 

-       15+ years of professional experience. 

o   10+ years managing large-scale consulting projects and client relationships in government contracting. 

o   5+ years managing teams. 

-       5+ years of business development experience. 

-       Proven track record of capturing and managing new leads and growing business with existing clients. 

-       Active Secret Clearance required, with the ability to obtain a Top Secret Clearance. 

-       Familiarity with and established relationships within the DoD. 

-       Experience in growing federal government contracting portfolios. 

-       Proficiency in change strategy, strategic planning, organizational design, leadership development, process improvement, and/or IT transformation. 

-       Strong facilitation skills to achieve desired outcomes in high-stakes situations. 

-       Experience with customer relationship management (CRM) tools such as Salesforce. 

-       Ability to analyze data to assess account performance and identify customer behaviors and opportunities. 

-       Familiarity with agile project management principles. 

-       Willingness and ability to travel to client sites in the surrounding DC and Baltimore metro areas (occasional travel outside these regions may be expected, around 5%). 

-       Critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and strong organizational abilities. 

-       Excellent business writing and verbal communication skills. 

-       Flexible, adaptable mindset for effectively navigating ambiguous and fast-paced environments. 

-       Must be legally eligible to work in the United States without the need for company visa sponsorship. 

 

Desired Skills, Experiences, and Certifications:

Experience in change management, strategic planning, strategic communication, program management, and/or organizational design is preferred; certifications such as PMP and/or Change Management (e.g., Prosci) are a plus. 

 

Compensation:

The projected salary range for this position is between $131,815.00 and $210,905.00 annually. Actual compensation depends on various factors, including the candidate's education, experience, knowledge, skills, certifications, and clearance level. Movement through pay bands is based on performance. The base annual salary is one component of the client’s total compensation approach, which includes opportunities for participation in incentive compensation (bonus) programs and a comprehensive benefits package. Physical and Mental Requirements:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be required to attend meetings inside and outside the office, travel extensively, and occasionally work evenings and weekends. Effective communication (both oral and written) is essential, along with the ability to use computers and other office equipment. The role is primarily sedentary, involving prolonged periods of sitting, with occasional walking, climbing stairs, and standing. Mental demands include using sound judgment, managing moderate stress, and maintaining attention to detail.
